Letter from the President

Greetings JWI Members and Friends,

We’ve made it through the summer and now the busy fall season is upon us. I sure am ready for this 100 degree heat to go away and let the cool air set in.

It sure is an important time for the Dallas Fort Worth chapter of JWI. It is time to begin the election process to choose those leaders who will guide and direct the JWI Chapter for the next 12 months, beginning in January 2008. In accordance with our bylaws and election guidelines, our 2nd Vice President, vCard File Tommy R. Evans, is in charge of compiling all the names of those interested in being on the board. We encourage you to nominate for consideration any individual who you feel would be an asset to the Dallas Chapter in a leadership position.

I hope you had a chance to attend our August luncheon. Thank you to vCard File Lisa Dalton from Hotel Palomar for being such a wonderful host! I’d also like to thank, W. Donnie Brown of Five Star Floral for the beautiful centerpieces. It’s always fun to be at new venues.

With such a wonderful response to last year’s bridal panel, we are excited to bring this back for a second year. vCard File Kay Watson, Education Chair has worked tirelessly on making this panel educational, informative and entertaining. We are thrilled that Marissa Ritter and Sarah Stewart, of Arlington Hall have invited us to visit their gorgeous venue. This meeting will fill up fast, so if you plan to attend be sure to register as soon as possible.

Please join us for the second annual Bridal Panel for the JWI Members

"YOU" the members of JWI have requested the return of this wonderful event.

For those who were not able to attend last year, the bridal panel was one of the highest rated of our events provided by JWI. The brides have been provided questions by the membership at the
August JWI Luncheon at The Hotel Palomar. Our goal is for this to be an educational sessions in hopes of providing information to our vendors as to what the brides expectations are and how we can improve upon our services.

We are planning a fun event, door prizes, music and a great setting for the panel discussion.
The panel of brides will be seated in a group, allowing each one to participate in each question asked by our own vCard File Tommy R. Evans. In the background, assisting this event have been Kay Watson, Marissa Ritter, Marcus Rollins, Dave Von Blohn, Dana Carroll, CWC and Damon Frazier.

Sampling of a few questions:

Where did you spend the budget majority on vs priority?
What source did you trust most to find your vendors? Recommendations of other friends, other vendors, magazine ads, web sites?
When contacting vendors, did you encounter anything that “turned you off? Slow to return phone calls, not fulfilling their promises/services?
What advice would you give to other brides- just starting out?
