The JWI Code of Ethics
The following shall constitute the Code of Ethics for all members of JWI, and each member shall abide by its guidelines:
Having been accepted for membership into JWI, each member hereby subscribes, without reservation, to this code of ethics, and solemnly agrees to the following statements:
- I will provide only the most professional services to the consumer, maintain up-to-date legal and business permits, licenses, appropriate insurance and contracts.
- I will assist my fellow event professionals with my client’s weddings/events so that all are working to produce the wedding/event perfectly and are able to do so as a cohesive and energetic team while maintaining respectful and responsible relationships with one another whether are not they are JWI members.
- I will always work honestly with the consumer and others in the industry, remain knowledgeable about the most current and professional techniques specific to my profession and the wedding industry in general.
- I will conduct myself as a leader in the industry.
- I will provide contracts or other appropriate written commitments to my clients.
- I will fully perform my contractual commitments with absolute excellence.
- I will provide services to my clients in a timely and professional manner.
- I will treat other members in the association only in the best and most honorable manner.
- I will conduct business in a professional manner and will at no time knowingly indulge in any practice, action or method that could reflect negatively upon JWI or its membership.
- I will accept the right of a client to forward any complaint against a member in writing to the JWI Chapter President. Any such complaint and its adjudication may be brought before the JWI Advisory Board for review and final arbitration.
- I shall at all times maintain the confidentiality of information either entrusted to me by a client, or obtained in pursuance of their work except on the order of a court of law or other appropriate authority.
- I will deal with employees in a fair, unbiased manner and will endeavor to ensure their safety and that of the general public at all times.
- I will use the JWI logo for advertising and promotional purposes for my company in compliance with JWI's rules for using the logo. I will not use the logo for any reason that would be considered beyond the realm of marketing and promotion for my company or JWI.
- I will not any list of current members of JWI to anyone for any reason at any time. The list of members, their contact information and other personal information, whether compiled by myself or provided by another member or JWI official or employee, is for my eyes only and shall be used only for contact purposes and not for any mass marketing purposes.
